Austin, Texas (August 1, 2016) – Today, the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) announced the appointment of Brian Webb to its Board. Webb will be working with Board Members in overseeing the organization’s finances, enhancing the value of Board Certification and increasing public awareness of TBLS.
“Brian has been Board Certified for over three decades, so he’s witnessed firsthand our organization’s transformation. Coupled with his experience in leading Texas’ largest family law organizations and serving on the boards of national and international family law organizations, his wealth of organizational experience and service will be of tremendous value to our Board,” said Leo Figueroa, Executive Director of TBLS.
Webb has been Board Certified in Family Law since 1980 and previously served TBLS on the Family Law Exam Committee for more than a decade, engaging in writing and grading the Texas Family Law Specialization Exam. He’s been president of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and the Texas Family Law Foundation. Webb is a former President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Foundation, a member of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is a Charter Diplomate in the American College of Family Trial Lawyers. He was recently inducted into the Texas Family Law Hall of Legends.
“Board Certification has advanced Texas lawyers to the forefront nationally and TBLS has developed a Certification program which is second to none,” said Webb. “TBLS has been directly responsible for significantly increasing the quality of Texas lawyers and the benefit to their clients and I am honored to begin this new phase in my longstanding support of this wonderful organization.”
Webb obtained his BS from the University of New Mexico in 1971, and his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1975.
Established by the Supreme Court of Texas, TBLS certifies attorneys in 22 specific areas of law. The Board Certification program is administered by a 12-member board appointed by the President of the State Bar of Texas. All members are appointed to three year staggered terms of office, and are eligible for reappointment for one additional term.
