Texas parents who are attempting to raise their children after getting a divorce may not necessarily agree on how to do so. Ideally, they will work together to do what is best for their children when it comes to resolving any disagreements that they have. In many cases, parents will share legal custody of their sons and daughters, which means that they will each be able to make decisions about a child’s upbringing.
These decisions could include where a child goes to school or what religion he or she is exposed to. Generally speaking, a parent who has played the greatest role in a child’s educational or social upbringing will retain the power to make decisions in those areas. Those who want more say in these or other areas of a minor’s life should document their efforts to do so before coming to court.
