When the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, came to Texas during Spring Break, it left many parents with a feeling of uncertainty. Thankfully the Texas Supreme Court understood and recognized the legitimate parent concerns and issued an emergency order to address their concerns. The court’s order, effective until May 8th (unless extended), states that possession and access are not affected by an epidemic or pandemic, including Covid-19.
Child Visitation Is An Essential Activity
Any parent that is denied visitation during Covid-19 can file a motion to enforce and the parent can ask for the judge to rule the guilty party in contempt, ask for additional parenting time to make up for the lost time, ask for reimbursement of any travel related expenses for the denied visitation, or ask for any other relief available under law.
